How to make laptop fan quieter?

laptop fan
by hermzz

I’ve only had my HP dm4 for a couple months but the fan has already started making noise. It’s not that loud but I feel uncomfortable taking it to the library since no one else’s laptop is making any noise. I only use it for internet browsing and documents, and it doesn’t get hot. Is there a way to make it quieter?

turn it off and let your processors overheat

they only get loud when it cant breath…if the vents under your lapop are being covered itll heat up….causing ur fan to turn on..so just make sure ur not covering any vents…stick to flat surfaces…no beds or on ur lap..

threaten it at gunpoint.

maan…just make it clean…make sure your fan is always clean…no dust or any other thing that may make it not run free!!

Try blowing the fan out with a can of compressed air. If that doesn’t do the trick then take it back to the distributor and get the fan replaced.

Is it normal for my laptop fan to occasionally make loud noises?

It’s a Toshiba Satellite, and when I’m on it every few minutes the fan (I’m assuming) will get pretty loud for about 5 or so minutes, then quiet down. It’s not extremely loud, or a griding noise or anything like that, but it does get significantly louder.
The last laptop I had (HP) overheated and fried, so I’m nervous that this could end up doing the same thing.

if the loud noises are fart sounds, i’d be worried.

That noise is from the fan being dusty. I don’t know if you’re able to open your laptop and clean the fan. This happens on desktops as well.

It is common for the fan to get loud, this is usually good. I know what you mean about the HP, my dv9000 had that and I had to buy a replacement board for it, now I really wish it would kick the fan into high speed more often to keep cool. The fan speeding up helps move the hot air out of the PC so it won’t overheat like HP’s do.

Yes it is

The extra noise from the fan is likely some dust on the blades throwing the blades out of balance, causing the noise. Perform some maintenance on your laptop to keep it running better and cooler.

toshiba tablet review get My laptop’s fan is running but lately I have been able to feel any air coming out, hot or cold. And its obviously bad because my laptop gets hotter, quicker now. How do I fix this? Is it a blockage?

maybe its clogged

clean fan and vents with canned air

use your vacuum cleaner or a blower to blow and see if you can remove some dust from it. if not its time to change the fan.

Either you have allot of dust blocking the vent or your fan is not turning.
I suggest you replace it as soon as passable if it is not spinning. To see just shine a flashlight in the vent.

How do I clean a dell laptop fan?

On my laptop, there is no removable panel to access the fan. I tried to spray a lot of the dust out with compressed air through the holes, but this can only get so much dust out. My laptop is very overdue for a cleaning, and there are huge clumps of dust stuck in there that won’t come out. What should I do?

There has to be a way to remove panels to get to the inside of the laptop.

Go to your laptop’s webpage and download a Manual to find out how.

If that doesn’t work out for you, take it to a service center and shell out a few dablooms

try to go to settings if not take it to a repair shop

First, be sure you’re not putting the laptop directly onto the sheets (ie. the sheets aren’t blocking the air vents and making the laptop hot). Ideally, put the laptop on a hard surface when you’re using it.

If blocked vents are not the case, then the fan may need to be replaced (worn bearing or something).
